Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 1 “Those Who Sleep Within” Recap:

The series opens with Shahsu underwater and Maran trying to save her but is stopped by Çavgeş as she wants Shahsu to witness something. As Maran stops, Shahsu is transported to a desert with doors in the middle of nowhere. As Shahsu approaches one door, Çavgeş asks Maran to bring Shahsu up. At the same time, Lilith emerges from the well along with some other serpents. By the lake, Çavgeş tells Shahsu that she was possessed by Shahmaran, and Maran confirms, saying Lilith is awake as well.

Now that Lilith is awake, she wants revenge. Lilith was trapped in the well because of her sister, who chose love over her sister. Maran and Shahsu were gripped by fear as the realization of Lilith’s return dawned upon them. Çavgeş, their steely composure intact, informed them that their path forward was fraught with trials. The enigmatic doors Shahsu had glimpsed represented life, death, and wisdom, each a gateway guarded by formidable challenges. Now, Lilith is doing what she can to survive but is not yet complete with her powers.

What happens to Maran’s family?

Shahmaran (Season 2): Recap & Ending Explained – What Does Shahmaran do to Continue the Prophecy? (1)

In the forest, Cihan walks and faces Lilith. As Çavgeş predicts, Lilith’s venom only paralyzes people and makes them addicted to her venom. In fact, the same thing started happening to Cihan. As Lilith takes control of Cihan, there is a storm-like situation. At this moment, Lilith comes to Maran’s house and talks to Ural. However, when Ural insults Lilith, she kills him. Later, a man in a cloak kills Hare. But Hare puts her mother’s perfume on the man so Maran can recognize the killer. Now, Maran and Shahsu come running to their respective houses, and Maran finds all the members of his family dead. Meanwhile, Shahsu hears from Salih that Mirac has killed Davut (Shahsu’s grandfather).

Afraid, Maran and Shahsu leave the house, Lilith emerges and puts a shield on Maran so he cannot harm her. However, Lilith is interested in talking to Shahsu and brings out Shahmaran. When Shahsu is possessed, Lilith expresses her desire to end humanity and get her revenge. Furthermore, Lilith also promises to destroy everyone Shahsu cares about. When Lilith leaves, Shahsu is afraid as she knows Lilith will not stop at anything. To move to safety, Maran suggests they stay in the serpent’s district, as Maran has a place there. When Maran and Shahsu arrive there, they are perceived with suspicion. Meanwhile, Lilith meets with her followers. Mirac gives Lilith Camsap’s blood, saying he killed him.

What do Marana and Lilith do to rally followers?

For now, Lilith’s advisor in the modern world is Cihan. Lilith also introduces Abra to Cihan and his father, Lakmu. After meeting with Lilith, Lakmu is afraid Cihan is reckless and may mess things up. Hence, he gives Cihan a pep talk to perform his role correctly. Maran seeks to bridge a chasm of mistrust with the Basilisk family, insisting he is a stark contrast to his father, Ural. He pledges a new era of leadership. His voice is filled with earnest conviction as he implores them to believe in his vision. Furthermore, Maran says he will destroy anyone who sides with Lilith. He also kills Lakmu, who is present at the meeting, especially for killing Hare. As Hare planned, Maran could smell Maran’s mother’s perfume on Lakmu and identify Hare’s killer.

To send a message, Maran asks his people to put a traitor tag on Lakmu and hang him in Lilith’s hang-out spot. When Cihan sees Lakmu’s dead body, he is upset. But Lilith sends energy and holds Cihan’s hand, and a scar is formed. Lilith promises Cihan that when the time comes, Cihan will murder Maran. Meanwhile, Maran is afraid of losing Shahsu. However, Shahsu fills him with hope and asks him to be in the present. Subsequently, they make love. To further her cause, Lilith enters the serpent’s district, reminds the serpents about the oppressed life they have been living, and asks them to join her to make the earth the land of serpents again.

Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 2 “Festina Lente” Recap:

The episode begins with Shahsu having a bad dream about Davut’s murder. After waking up from the dream, Shahsu is curious about Mirac’s anger towards them. Maran reveals that Mirac is a loyal man but starts to lose faith in Shahmaran and switches sides. In the serpent’s district, Mirac’s men behave like goons. Maran warns them to behave in the area, and they are free to choose whichever side they want. Meanwhile, Cihan is getting impatient as he wants to kill Maran. Lilith asks him to give up the impatience, saying that one day, Cihan will get a chance to kill Maran.

What is Shahsu’s first trial?

At home, Shahsu reads about how to get through the first door of life. To pass through the door, Shahsu must forgive someone she despises, like Mirac, since he killed Davut. Despite Shahsu’s discomfort, Maran prepares to find Mirac using his serpent men. Shahsu visits the college to bid goodbye to her students. Meanwhile, Lilith wants to understand how humans work and decides to visit a nightclub with Mirac, Abra, and Cihan.

Thanks to Maran’s men, he can now follow Lilith and the group to the nightclub. In Mar, one of Mirac’s men starts beating up a human being and scaring the neighborhood. At the nightclub, Lilith lets loose and dances away. At one point, Lilith asks Mirac to dance with her, but he refuses. The trio then takes Mirac to a quiet place. Lilith bites his neck with her fangs. They then dump Mirac in a dumpster outside the club.

Can Shahsu forgive Mirac and enter the first door?

Shahmaran (Season 2): Recap & Ending Explained – What Does Shahmaran do to Continue the Prophecy? (2)

After finding Mirac, Maran brings Shahsu to the club and sees a paralyzed Mirac in the dumpster. Before Shahsu can do anything, Cihan walks out and talks to them. Shahsu is being kind, urging Cihan to reconsider his path, insisting that beneath the anger, he’s fundamentally good. But Cihan remains steadfast, demanding that Shahsu extract answers from Maran for Lakmu’s death. From inside the club, Abra watches and comes out and uses her powers to turn Shahsu and Maran into an immovable state.

Once Abra does that, Cihan kisses the helpless Shahsu and is about to kill Maran. However, Lilith stops him telepathically. Wanting something out of Maran’s helplessness, Cihan cuts Maran’s face. Once the spell is removed, Shahsu worries about the cut on Maran’s face. But he knows they must get Mirac away from the crowd and drive to a nearby forest.

Later, Cihan is disappointed since Lilith has tricked him. At the same time, Lilith tells Cihan that he has passed a test and asks Abra to get romantic with Cihan. In the forest, Shahsu tries to heal Mirac, but she can see how Mirac stabbed Davut. However, Shahsu knows she has to continue healing Mirac. In the process, Shahsu learns that Mirac has been worried about his son, who had died while trying to earn money for the family.

Shahsu heals Mirac successfully and crosses the first door. After coming out of the trance-like state, Shahsu also heals Maran’s cut on his face. Once Mirac wakes up, he tells Shahsu to find Davut in Baldibi. In the end, we see Davut is wounded but alive somewhere on the streets. Lilith decides to let him live so he meets his death the way he is supposed to.

Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 3 “Love Dosen’t Kill” Recap:

The episode begins with Shahsu’s vision of someone in a black cloak killing Maran. When Shahsu wakes up from the vision, she sees Davut alive and well, except that he has lost all his memory. To help Davut, Shahsu tries to remind him by telling him about things only they would know, but he can’t remember anything.

Meanwhile, Mirac reads about Mesut, the owner of the factory where Mirac’s son was killed. Spurned by Lilith, Mirac forges a dangerous alliance with fellow basilisks like Kadir, united by a common purpose: to avenge the growing toll of basilisk lives lost to Mesut’s factory. Despite having basilisks on his side, Mirac asks Maran to help kill Mesut, but Maran refuses to commit murder.

How do Lilith and Cihan manipulate Maran and Shahsu?

On the other hand, Cihan teaches Abra how to use a gun, as it may come in handy. When Davut cannot remember anything, Maran and Shahsu take him home, hoping he will remember things. At the house, Shahsu tells Davut about her mother. Davut seems to have a slight vision but still can’t remember anything. As Maran goes to check on his house, Cihan and Abra arrive. Cihan talks to Shahsu, explaining that Maran had killed a fellow professor, and expresses how hurt he is because of Lakmu’s death.

Shahmaran (Season 2): Recap & Ending Explained – What Does Shahmaran do to Continue the Prophecy? (3)

At the same time, Lilith enters Maran’s house and tries to convince him to switch sides by saying humans are treacherous creatures. At first, Maran pretends to agree with Lilith, gets close to her, uses this to his advantage, and chokes and pushes Lilith. However, Lilith gets back up, and Maran realizes Lilith cannot be killed. To prove her words, Lilith shows Maran an image of Cihan and Shahsu hugging. She also tells Maran that Shahsu will lie to him when he asks Shahsu about it. After seeing Cihan with Shahsu, Maran runs over to her. At first, neither reveals the truth, but Shahsu tells Maran about the conversation with Cihan. Eventually, Maran also says that Lilith had killed the professor, clarifying the misunderstandings.

Can Maran save Mesut?

Later, Shahsu and Maran sleep together. Elsewhere, Mesut is traveling, and Lilith calls him, expresses her anger towards his actions, and protects the basilisks. A serpent inside Mesut’s car bites his driver, causing an accident. Now, Cihan and Abra arrive, and Abra uses her powers to take Mesut. At the same time, Mirac is rallying forces to kill Mesut, not caring about Shahmaran or Lilith. Cihan arrives at the location and tells Mirac that Lilith will never turn her back on Basilisks. They bring out Mesut, and Mirac puts a chemical bomb around Mesut. They plan on how to kill Mesut.

One of Maran’s basilisks hears this and informs Maran, who rushes to the scene and is stopped by Cihan. Like before, Maran tries to intimidate Cihan. However, Cihan now has the support of other basilisks. Therefore, Maran gets a hold of Cihan and orders the other basilisks to stop approaching him. Hurriedly, Maran finds Mesut, who takes the bomb and throws it in the air. The chemical smoke affects everyone in the area, and Shahsu has a hunch and rushes to the location to see Maran crying.

Suddenly, Shahsu sees the chaos around her and people dying, so she uses her power to pull all the poisonous smoke toward her and purify the air, protecting everyone. Through narration, we learn the only way to enter the second door is for Shahsu to kill someone she truly loves, and in this case, it is Maran.

Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 4 “About Love and Death” Recap:

The episode opens with Shahsu trying to become one with Shahmaran within her, and she is interrupted by Maran. Through their conversation, Shahsu expresses her fear of the next trial, wondering if Maran is the one to die. Meanwhile, Lilith tries to understand what being in love feels like, and she asks Cihan to explain it to her.

Since Mirac is Maran’s captive, Kadir visits Lilith to ask for a solution for Mesut. Instead of dealing only with Mesut’s problem, Lilith tells Kadir that he is a basilisk and they are hunters. Therefore, when Kadir kills someone, it isn’t murder. After a while, Diba is woken up by Lilith and sent away. On the other hand, Davut still can’t remember anything, yet an uncanny intuition guides him through the unknown.

An unexpected guest arrives in the form of Diba, taking Shahsu and Maran by surprise. However, Davut feels Diba will bring trouble and is uncomfortable around her. When Shahsu and Maran question Diba, she can’t remember how she was resurrected or who brought her back to life, but Diba came looking for Maran since she missed him. For now, Shahsu and Maran let Diba stay with them. When Maran is distracted, Diba rips apart one of his photos. Furthermore, Diba asks Shahsu what she will do to fulfill her prophecy since she has to kill someone Shahsu loves, but she is interrupted by Maran.

Can Shahsu save Maran?

Shahmaran (Season 2): Recap & Ending Explained – What Does Shahmaran do to Continue the Prophecy? (4)

To win over Maran’s trust, Diba tells Maran that she will need him in the future and will be there for Maran. When Shahsu is alone in her room, Lilith visits her, cryptically says that she despises love, and asks Shahsu what decision she will take. Afraid of Lilith, Shahsu calls Maran. But Maran tells Shahsu that he has lost his family and cannot hurt Diba. Meanwhile, Kadir and the other basilisks enter the town, start murdering people, and destroy property for no good reason. Once they are satisfied, they burn Mesut’s factory down. Mesut is having trouble of his own as he sees absurd rashes on his skin, and his health is deteriorating.

That night, Diba tries to kill Shahsu, but Maran stops her and promises Shahsu that he won’t let anyone harm her. After the incident, Diba cuts herself and visits Maran’s room. Diba has a unique ability to disappear, although she sends her voice across as an echo. Hearing Diba’s voice, Maran enters the forest, and Shahsu looks for Maran after a while. When Shahsu finds Maran, he gets stabbed by Diba. Before Diba can kill Maran, Shahsu stops her and stabs Diba, killing her. Seeing Maran Shahsu takes Shahmaran’s energy, her fangs come out, bites Maran, and brings him back to life.

Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 5 “Judgement Day” Recap:

The episode opens with Shahsu realizing she killed Diba and feels remorse. But Maran tells Shahsu it was Lilith’s trap. Seeing Maran not feel emotions about Diba’s death, Shahsu is furious as she is not completely a basilisk and still has human emotions. At home, Maran expresses his tribulation as he is unsure if he loves Shahsu because of the prophecy or has truly fallen in love, and hence, the prophecy is true. Finally, Maran asks them to be two people in love, even for one morning, without anything outrageous happening to them.

Will Cihan kill the basilisks?

Meanwhile, Lilith knows Shahmaran will be waking up soon and tells Cihan that there are traitors amongst the basilisks. She also asks him to mark the houses and kill them, even though basilisks don’t kill one another. Inside the house, Davut remembers things from his past, but he does not know his real name. However, Davut knows he has committed a grave sin and wants to find the well.

That night, basilisks support Lilith in preparing and marking the traitors’ houses. Abra is unhappy with the situation, but Cihan wants to follow Lilith’s orders. The next morning, Shahsu feels something is wrong and reads the instructions to open the third door, which involves Camsap, aka Davut, remembering his wounds, leading to Shahmaran’s rise.

Now, Mesut has captured Mirac, and Mirac’s basilisk self is out. Furthermore, Mirac tells Mesut about the sisters at war to see who will rule the world of serpents. Even though humans are cruel because of their greed, the serpents have become worse. As Mirac speaks, Cihan and the group start killing the traitors. Now, Shahsu tells Davut the story of Camsap, and Davut’s wounds are open. The trio rush to Shahmaran’s garden but can’t find the well.

Cihan calls Maran and asks him to come and save his basilisks. As soon as Maran leaves, Çavgeş emerges and tells Shahsu that the next door is to kill a human, and that is Davut. Furthermore, Çavgeş says that she is the protector of the cycle and not the prophecy, and the only way for Shahsu and Maran to be free and give humanity a chance is through freeing Camsap and restarting the cycle.

Will Lilith set Abra and Cihan free?

Amidst the massacre, Abra tells Cihan that basilisks don’t kill each other. She wants to be free from Lilith and then kisses Cihan. Meanwhile, an angry Maran enters the basilisk’s district and starts killing Lilith’s basilisks. Finally, Cihan makes up his mind and decides to leave the place forever with Abra, but Lilith comes in their way. Gathering courage, Cihan expresses how he feels. Lilith sets them free but gives Cihan the axe to kill Maran and tells him that he can kill Shahmaran and Maran with it. As this conversation continues, Shahsu sets Davut free, scales appear on her body, and Lilith’s men surround Maran. In the last scene, we see a transformed Shahsu standing before Davut.

Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 6 “Cycle” Recap:

Shahmaran (Season 2): Recap & Ending Explained – What Does Shahmaran do to Continue the Prophecy? (5)

The episode begins with Davut as the real Camsap and Shahsu as Shamaran coming face-to-face. Ashamed of his deeds, Camsap asks Shamaran not to forgive him as he had led humans to her, and the result was Sharaman’s death. However, Shamaran forgives Camsap and promises to live life as mortals. However, all plans fail as Lilith arrives and kills Camsap, stopping the cycle. In the basilisk’s district, Maran asks the serpents to fight him, and Cihan enters with the axe. Suddenly, Maran loses his basilisk’s mark, meaning he is a human. Cihan takes the opportunity to beat Maran, especially because Maran is weak without his basilisk’s power.

Will the cycle continue?

As Maran struggles on the ground, Cihan takes the axe to kill Maran. But Abra stops him from using the powers and makes Cihan kill himself. Later, Abra looks at Lilith and kills herself. Meanwhile, Camsap’s blood reaches the well, and it opens up. Both Çavgeş and Shahmaran are in the garden. Çavgeş says the cycle is over with Camsap’s death, but Shahmaran has a plan to continue the cycle and bring back Shahsu. Now, Shahsu does not remember anything, and Çavgeş fills her in and requests Shahsu to continue the cycle. The cycle can continue if Maran can take Camsap’s place.

Meanwhile, Mesut asks Mirac to take him to Shahmaran as he only has three months to live. He knows about the power of Shahmaran’s tail, which can cure Mesut’s disease. When Mirac refuses and Mesut’s men find Maran’s location, Mesut kills Mirac. After telling the surviving basilisks to go to the woods, Maran comes home to find a happy Shahsu, asking Maran to spend time with her like a normal couple. However, Maran finds the whole situation odd, although he plays along with Shahsu’s requests. Now, Shahsu asks to take a warm bath. Then she reveals to Maran that she will go underground and kisses Maran one last time.

Shahmaran (Season 2) Episode 6 Ending Explained:

After that, Shahsu takes Shahmaran’s form and meets Lilith, who expresses her anger towards Shahmaran for trusting humans even though they have killed her. Shahmaran offers a poignant observation, suggesting that humanity’s suffering stems from a self-imposed prison of guilt and shame. In contrast, Shahmaran’s path is defined by unconditional love, a force that transcends judgment and doubt. Furthermore, Shahmaran adds that Lilith is her sister, loves her dearly, knows that she is not evil, and hugs her. They transport her to Shahmaran’s garden with the well. Now Lilith realizes what is happening and begs Shahmaran to choose her over humans, but Shahmaran puts Lilith back in the well.

Unable to bear the pain, Maran goes looking for Shahmaran and finds the rose flowers. At the same time, Mesut follows Maran. In the garden, Maran finds Shahmaran’s abode and chuckles, looking at Shahsu in complete Shahmaran’s form. However, the smile is short-lived as Mesut arrives with his men with an axe to kill Shahmaran. As Mesut approaches Shahmaran to kill her, Shahmaran says she will continue to give humans a chance every single time until they change their decision. Mesut kills Shahmaran, and Maran is miserable. In the post-credits, we see Maran doing his chores in the same house, and a gust of wind distracts him.

In the end, Maran is a human again. He stops doing his work as he feels a presence through the gust of wind. The cycle continues, and the chances are high that there will be a season 3 for the series. The second season of the series comes with many messages about human greed and suffering while also emphasizing the power of love and sacrifice.

Also, in the end, when Shahmaran sacrifices herself again for another human’s greed, she says she will continue to give humans a chance, meaning that there is some hope that humans will stop their actions, which are fuelled by greed and the need for power, and that love will prevail. If there is a season 3, there is a chance that at the end of the season, a human will consciously choose not to kill Shahmaran and choose love over greed.
