The Best Tips forAnnihilation:
- Boss hasa weak spot that is easy to hit, therefore prioritize attacking it
- Enigmais a great choice todestroy homing balls during both phases.
First Phase
At the beginning, it flies around the battlefield, uses its massive sword-like weapon to deal damage. Annihilation also affects the battlefield, using many AOE attacks and creating energy beams that persist on the field, dealing damage if players come into contact with them
Annihilation has a lot ofattacks and flies constantly around the battlefield. Beware of its Impalement attack because it may entangle you, leavingplayers unable to move for a few seconds, until you manage to free yourself.
Note that energy beams will constantly drop onto the ground, forcing players to be aware of their surroundings and moving around as much as possible.
After you manage to deplete its health bar, Annihilation will enter its second phase, by "opening" his head and revealing what controls it.
Second Phase
During the second phase, Annihilation will recover all its health and even the battlefield will change into a futuristic landscape, with red neon colors.
Annihilation will stay on the same place during parts of the fight, moving little from its position at the far end of the screen, just to perform attacks. After taking enough damage, the battlefield will switch between the one on the first phase and the latter one, granting Annihilationan even wider moveset.
On the futuristic scenario, if you walk towards Annihilation you will fall to your death.
Six tendrilswill appear on the ground, three on one side and three on the other one. They will be in vertical position, but may branch in a horizontal position to limit your movement. Always be mindful of this to avoid ending trapped.
When you manage to deplete Annihilation's health bar for a second time, a cutscene will trigger in which Clementineand The Keeper evaluate the situation.
Third Phase
After the cutscene, you will notice that Annihilation hasn't got a health bar, and will summon minions to attack you. It will remain in the middle of the battlefield, and the phase will end after either a set time or you/a party member take fatal damage. Using a Liquid Escape immediately ends this phase, reaching the end of the campaign.
Attacks & Counter
Attack | Description | Counter |
Phase 1 & 2 | ||
SwordSlam | Annihilation leans backwardsand then attacks from above with his sword. | Dodge to either side. Recovery after thismove gives enough time to land a headshot |
Energy Slam | Annihilation rises into the air and slams its right hand to deal an energy slam. | Dodge as the shockwave approaches. |
Impalement | Annihilation nails its sword into the ground up to 3 times, each time releasing a wave of energy. Itcan be followed by Ball Conjuration. | Stay away from the sword and dodge forward to avoid the wave |
Root Trap | Annihilation tries to stop player from moving by rooting him to the ground. Rooting stops any movement and inflicts Data Corruption status. | Attack can be avoided, but timing has to be very precise. Button mash the release button to escape from the trap. Luckily, attack itself deals very low damage. |
Ball Conjuration | Annihilation conjures 3 sets of balls, that attacks the player after several seconds | Shoot the balls as soon as possible, as they deal very high damage. Damage can be avoided with i-frames from roll, but timing has to be perfect. |
Sword Combo | Annihilation attacks with his sword 2 times - starts from his right and then goes from his left. Attack covers wide area in front of him. | Dodge away (1st attack) and towards him (2nd attack), be vary of timing during the latter part of this combo |
Hanging Doom | Annihilation flies into the air and hangs there, looking menacingly at player. Maydash up to 2 times to avoid direct hit. | Perfect moment to either heal or score hits to weak spot. |
Phase 2 | ||
Global System Error (80% health) | Annihilation may "freeze" the current state of the battle and return it to other arena (choice can be either 1st phase arena or 2nd phase arena). | Memorize what attack was last shortly before this move to avoid unpleasant surprise. |
Local System Error | Annihilation may "freeze" and teleport on short distance. | Happens randomly during some of the attack |
Tendrils | Tendrils cover the battlefield and may damage or branch between them to limit your movement in the area. | Mind them all the time to avoid getting trapped by them. |
Long Tendril | Annihilation conjures a long tendril, that sweeps entire arena. | Roll to avoid getting hit. |
Arrow Barrage | Annihilation shoots several arrows, that explodes several seconds later and "corrupts" player. | Move outside theblast radius. |
Blight Pool | Annihilation slams the ground and a blight pool appears on your location. It will build up Blight status effect if you are standing there. | Move away as soon as Annihilation slams the ground. |
Data Lattice/Waves | Annihilation creates three rows of three/lattice of lightning and sweeps the ground using the massive sword he wields. | Dodgeto avoid |
Massive Ball Conjuration + Blast | Annihilation conjures several balls of energy dealing high damage on impact. Will also attack with blast, that deals low damage, butinterrupts any moves. | Shoot all the balls to stop the attack and stun Annihilation |
